Contractor uses macerator pump for a sub-grade basement bathroom installation without breaking the concrete slab

Problem

GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA — Mike Barber, owner of The Upstate Handyman, LLC, has been involved with the professional trades virtually his entire life. Solution

According to Barber, the first of these projects happened to be built out below grade. “ So I knew we needed a macerating, above-floor, up-flush system. I did some research online for trusted systems and came across Saniflo. It was the first solution I tried, and I haven’t looked back since.”

From there, the plumbing configuration was carefully designed to align with the existing infrastructure underneath the basement stairs. The central drain line rose 10 feet vertically before traversing another 20 feet horizontally to connect with the existing sewer line.

This design ensured efficient waste removal and compliance with plumbing codes while avoiding the need for extensive excavation or costly alterations.
